Wing Drill Screws

Wing drill screws are designed for fastening timber and composite materials to steel, combining drilling, clearance and fixing in a single operation. Also known as wing self-drilling screws, timber to steel screws and wing tek screws, they're frequently used in construction, fabrication and general trade applications where timber needs to be secured directly to steelwork.

The small wings positioned above the drill point ream a clearance hole through the timber, helping prevent the screw thread from engaging with the timber before it reaches the steel. Once the drill point penetrates the steel, the wings break away and the thread engages with the metal, pulling the materials firmly together.

Our range includes TEK 3 wing drill screws for light steel sections and TEK 5 wing drill screws for heavier steel sections, making it easier to select the appropriate drilling capacity for the job. Countersunk heads allow the fixing to sit neatly into the timber surface.

Manufactured from carbon steel, these screws feature EvoShield corrosion-resistant coating and are available in a selection of diameters and lengths to suit different timber thicknesses and steel sections.

Choose TEK 3 for light steel or TEK 5 for heavier steel applications.

Whether you're fixing timber battens, boards or other timber components to steelwork, our wing drill screws for timber to steel provide a purpose-designed alternative to drilling a separate clearance and pilot hole before fixing.
