Why Buy Reisser R2 Wood Screws?

  • 25-degree needle point to help penetrate most timbers with little or no pilot drilling in many applications.
  • Lubricated, deep thread designed to reduce driving resistance (Reisser state up to 40% less driving resistance).
  • Specially hardened steel for high tensile and torsional strength, useful when driving longer screws.
  • Reinforced, deep pozi drive recess to reduce cam-out and improve bit engagement.
  • Finish options including yellow tropicalised coating, bright zinc plated (BZP), and Retinox (A2 stainless) (coming soon) for higher corrosion resistance.

What Reisser R2 Screws are Used for

Reisser R2 screws are general-purpose wood screws for fixing into:

  • Softwood and hardwood
  • Sheet materials such as ply, OSB, MDF and chipboard
  • Timber-to-timber joints (studwork, battens, noggins, carcassing)
  • Timber-to-plate or bracket fixings (pan head variants are often preferred when you want clamping rather than a flush finish)

They are commonly chosen when you want fast installation, strong hold, and fewer issues with cam-out or snapped bits.

Standards and Materials

Reisser publish CE information and Declarations of Performance (DoP) for R2 screws under the Construction Products Regulation (CPR). Their R2 DoP documents reference BS EN 14592:2008 + A1:2012 (requirements for dowel-type fasteners used in timber structures).

Material and corrosion protection depend on the R2 variant:

Carbon steel versions are commonly supplied with yellow tropicalised or bright zinc plated finishes.

R2 Retinox is made from A2 stainless steel for higher corrosion resistance.
